My-oh-my how I do love a challenge, especially when it involves shopping! I recently got an invitation to participate in a Go-Green Challenge from Alice.com in honor of Earth Day. (OH, and when you use that link you’ll get 20% off your first order!)
Y’all know how much I hate lugging home heavy groceries and supplies from the store. Any time I can have bulky, heavy items delivered like dog food, laundry detergent or bulky items like toilet paper delivered, I do.
I’d like to say that going car-less is “green” but really, taking public transportation saves me green- it’s just such a hassle to find the brands I want at my local grocer 4 blocks away and lug it home, the experience is usually a big, huge hassle.
My biggest frustration is running out of the “everyday” items- paper towels, garbage bags & liquid detergent and bleach simply because I can’t carry it all home and don’t always get to the big-box store every week by train. The thought of simplifying my “essentials” shopping will be an exciting opportunity!
Here’s a bit about Alice.com:
Let’s face it; you can probably think of a thousand things you’d rather do than drive to the store again and again for toilet paper, toothpaste, trash bags and the dozens of other home essentials that keep your home running. We can too. That’s why we started Alice.
The Internet has changed the way we shop for things like books, clothing, shoes and electronics. We buy online for the convenience and the power we have to get product reviews, choose brands, see price comparisons, and make better choices.
But when it comes to home essentials, we still trudge off to the store, load up the cart, and haul a trunk-load of stuff out the parking lot. Why? Because no one has come up with an efficient, cost-effective way to buy these goods online. Until now.
Last week, I checked my closest grocery store (it’s a small family owned store) and I couldn’t find much of anything that was going to do either- be green or save green. I’m excited to try Alice.com to see if it can help me simplify my shopping while finding earth-friendly products I’ve been unsuccessfully trying to lug home! They extended me a $150 shopping credit to do just that!
I’ll be curious to see if Alice.com offers the brands I want and eco-friendly options I crave. I’m already excited at the prospect of having the products delivered and cutting down on the normally un-fun portion of my shopping trips to the store, so I’ll be curious to see what they have to offer. My challenge is to buy eco-friendly home products & snacks, and I’m ready for it!
Earth Day is April 22nd, do you do anything to be more eco-friendly? Do you have any tips for me?
Join me back here next week when I share my Alice.com haul & I how I’ll put my eco-friendly products to use!
