The Oceanside Turkey Trot 2012 was a gorgeous 5 mile beachy trek on a gorgeous, southern California Thanksgiving day. There was also the option to do a 5k as opposed to the 5 miler, but I knew I’d have a delicious pecan pie waiting for me at home and at a whopping 500 calories per slice, I knew that my cute leopard print running skirt wouldn’t fit if I didn’t put the miles in!
Speaking of cute leopard print running skirts- I got a special new outfit for the Oceanside Turkey Trot from RunningSkirts.com – a run love performance long sleeved top in chocolate, snow leopard running skirt, and the adorable pink Run Love compression socks. I got so many compliments and the outfit was totally comfortable- just the right amount of warmth and can I just say, I looked ADORBS? I even had the pleasure of meeting the gals from Running Skirts and they were so fun… I’m a converted fan and did some additional shopping at their Pink Friday Sale to get more gear!
I think the Turkey Trot will surely become a yearly tradition- I know it sounds weird, but it felt great to be outside on Thanksgiving morning to get active before I hit a plate of turkey, stuffing and pie. The course was gorgeous, the weather was great and while I’m not a huge fan of surfing turkeys, I was ecstatic to to pick up a new medal some cute swag.
I didn’t perform as well as I did at the Iron Girl 10k, but still cut my pace down from my first 10k (hooray!) and finished the 5 miles in 59:29. Plus, that delicious pecan pie featured above tasted even better later that day! I quickly perused the expo and ended up discovering a great Valentine’s Day 10k Race in San Diego that I’m going to run in February in between the Tinker Bell Half Marathon and the Princess Half Marathon… either because I’m a fitness junkie or I’m bling obsessed…either way!
i did the turkey trot last year and really enjoyed it- totally agree on how great it feels to be the morning of the biggest meal of the year haha. 🙂

Haha, that pie was extra delicious after 5 miles! Happy holidays Stephanie!
Great job looking fabulous and getting another race in girl!
I just have to keep up with you- you always look too cute in your gear!
Congrats on the time! You look 10x’s prettier than I ever do pre-race!
haha, that is so not true! There are days I finish a race and look as bright as the shirts I wear, totally sweaty and gross- I wait a few minutes to hydrate and take a photo, haha!
