This year, I’ve been blogging a lot about how healthy habits should be thoughtful, deliberate and consistent. Since many of us start the year of trying to aggressively turn around years of less than ideal habits, many of us fall off the wagon all too quickly. In 2015, unlike in years past (like where I resolved to do 13 half marathons in 2013), my health goals aren’t as grand, but I’m equally as gung-ho about making this year a healthy one by making small, daily choices that add up to permanent results.
I’ve resolved to stretch everyday (which I’ve been doing!) but I’m also hoping to stretch in other ways- I’ve started a new workout routine which is really challenging for me. I just purchased two workout programs from Beachbody (my friend Kat is a blogger and amazing coach who I adore)- one being PiYo and t25. While the workout itself is really challenging (it’s 25 minutes of crazy muscle building cardio), the routine of doing it is still within reach. I know that I’m not always going to trek outside to run if it’s 15 degrees out, but I know I can squeeze in 30 minutes of workouts while I’m at home. I’ve learned that some habits are made to be broken, but small, changes to work with existing behaviors make it doable.
I’m really excited to see where the next month takes me!
Another point in my fitness routine, that big change doesn’t have to be crazy big in and of itself- is to take supplements as part of a daily routine. I usually have a sweet tooth, and when I need something sweet that still has a health benefit, I’ve been using Viactiv. For the last 30 days, I’ve enjoyed the milk chocolate calcium chews, but I am lovin the gummies too!
Many Americans do not receive the amount of calcium they need – around 70% of women are calcium deficient. Females are born with lower bone density than men which creates a higher need for daily calcium intake; however, most women receive only half of their RDA calcium in their daily diets. How do you know if you’re getting enough calcium? Check here to see how much calcium you need based on your age.
Viactiv Calcium Soft Chews are available in milk chocolate, caramel and sugar-free milk chocolate flavors, each individually wrapped making it easy to take your calcium on the go, throw in your lunch or in your handbag. My new faves are the Viactiv Gummies (in yummy tropical flavors if you crave Starbursts), which are available at Walgreens and are gluten and dairy free. Check out Viactiv on Facebook!

Oh I love chocolate calcium chews! I’m not a ‘I need chocolate every day’ person, but when the mood strikes it’s nice to have those on hand.
Glad to know I’m not the only one!
Viactiv actually tastes great!
