Today is my birthday, huzzah! I’m 27 today and life couldn’t be better! In 2013, I’ve completed 8 half marathons and am working on my first triathlon next month and have been crazy enough to sign up for my second triathlon in September, the Tri Rock in Lake Geneva! Huzzah.
Admittedly, I count myself as a lucky woman today- I have such amazing friends and colleagues, a loving family and more wonderful memories in 27 years than I surely deserve. I have adopted two ridiculously cute pugs and have a boyfriend whom I adore. I’ll be flying to Anaheim next month for the Disneyland Half Marathon (we’ll pretend it is still my bday then?) and I cannot wait to see my family in California! Life. Is. Good.
I treated myself to some new running goodies last week, but I’ve had a few folks ask me what remains on my birthday wish list…this year, I’m a bit running obsessed (can you tell?) and while I don’t expect any of this, if I had some extra cash floatin’ around these items would be the first on my list!
Triathlon Gear From Betty Designs / Nike Fuelband or Fitbit Flex / Moving Comfort High Impact Bras
Okay, so FitBit or Nike Fuelband? While I love that FitBit tracks sleep, I’m torn because the Fuelband comes in white and it syncs to the Nike+ account I have which I totally love using on my iPhone.
Also, if you are chesty like myself, you will love the Fiona Moving Comfort Bra (right) which I have about 3 of and need more. They aren’t racerback bras, so I’m hoping to stock up on some new styles and experiment with their high impact line. Everything Moving Comfort always comes in great colors and is super comfy. I have at least 5 more half marathons this year and this is my bra of choice (I never seem to have enough!)
Sweaty Bands / Doctor Who Gear from Think Geek / Philosophy Birthday Girl Gift Set
Sweaty Bands are my obsession lately- I have seen a lot of other headbands out there, but nothing gets me giddier than Sweaty Bands since they by far have the best designs and they honestly don’t slip. I have some from the Tinker Bell Half Marathon and the Chicago Women’s Half Marathon gave us complimentary ones with our shirts…I was so stupid excited! Now that I usually get up at 5am for biking/running I slick my hair back into a ponytail and dash to work, so I now want one for every outfit. Yep, obsessed.
At the Rock N Roll Chicago expo this weekend, I spotted an awesome “galaxy” themed headband made of a high quality print photo of the milky way- but I can’t find it on their site. It would be perfect for my planned Doctor Who outfit, but I shall be patient…speaking of which….
I’m totally going to run in Doctor Who gear for any costumed run I can squeeze in this year. Yes, complete with fez. Any Whovians out there will surely appreciate this! I just need the right run and this is so. going. to. happen.
RunnerBox & TriBox subscriptions….want!!
I have reviewed RunnerBox before and LOVED it. I need to update my subscription and since I’m crazily doing two triathlon sprints this fall, I’m swooning over the idea of subscribing to TriBox. This is truly an awesome service and I’ve gotten some amazing products in it- not just Gus and gels (which you’d expect and end up with way too many of!), but socks, gloves, reflective gear and amazing snacks to refuel with. Love, love, love this service.
Thank you all for reading this blog and making this a very happy birthday indeed. I count my awesome readers among my greatest blessings…you rock!
Happy Birthday Darling!
Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope your day is fantastic and congrats on all of your past and future marathons!
I have heard SO many recommendations for moving comfort bras. My girls need the support — so glad to hear from another woman who enjoys them. They are #1 on my list to try.
Happy birthday!!
Happy Birthday!!!! I love my MC bras! I was a 2 sports bra girl until I found MC.
Happy Birthday! I say definitely get the FitBit Flex! I LOVE mine! The coolest thing about it is that it syncs to your phone and computer wirelessly, so you always have an up-to-date look at your day. I really, really love how simple it is to use and I think the design is also pretty sleek. I blogged about mine a little here: https://fitlizzy.blogspot.com/2013/07/the-heat-wave-running-continues.html
but may end up doing a more in-depth review, because it’s a big decision to make!
Yay! Happy Birthday! So glad we met at Fitbloggin a few weeks ago. As a runner, I love my Moving Comfort bras too. I have two and want a dozen more. For my birthday this year, I am running the Disney Wine and Dine half marathon. It will be my first runDisney race so I am super excited!
Happy birthday! Would you link up with us sometime at Motivation Monday?

Happy birthday! Mine was last week, but i turned 28!
Happy Birthday! Your wishlist looks pretty good to me 🙂
FYI I have a regular fitbit (the one that clips to your waistband) and I really like it. I also use Nike+ through my iPod, so I could go in either direction on that…BUT you should check out this review I came across testing all the different wearable tech: https://allthingsd.com/20130715/fitbit-flex-vs-jawbone-up-and-more-a-wearables-comparison/ as some more guidance on the issue.
Also, I’m not so chesty, but those sports bras look awesome!
Hope you had a great birthday! <3
Happy belated birthday! Hope it was great! I’m loving those Dr. Who socks! And I love, love, love philosophy. I had some sweet vanilla eggnog lotion from them…I need more…
Happy birthday, Shannyn!!
Happy Birthday!! And oh man, those TARDIS socks are the BEST! That is gonna be an awesome running costume. If you can’t find a fez, a cowboy hat will also suffice 😉
Hope you had a great birthday! It’s amazing to see how much you’ve gotten into running. You far surpassed any level I’d ever hope to achieve. I’d love to do a 1/2 marathon but it’s just not in my budget. 🙁
Happy Belated Birthday!
I just started running two months ago and while I’m nowhere near marathon level (just working to a 5K right now) and I have a loooooong way to go, I do need a better bra. What I’ve been wearing is not working. I’m definitely going to check those Moving Comfort bras out.
Thanks.
