The Fort 2 Base 2013 Race will be held at Fort Sheridan (north of Chicago) on August 25th, 2013. I’m so excited about this race and cannot wait to run it. Unlike your typical race, you can run either 3 nautical miles, which is about 3.45 miles, or 10 nautical miles, or 11.5 miles, and depending on your preferred distance to begin at historic Fort Sheridan to end at Naval Station Great Lakes via the spectacular Green Bay Trail.
I chose this race because of the unique distance and quite frankly, the patriotism. Whenever I do training runs or cycle, I sync my Charity Miles app to dedicate my mileage to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. While there are so many great causes out there, my personal fitness whenever possible, is dedicated to Wounded Warrior Project. When I run this race on August 25th, I’ll dedicate my miles then as well!
This should be an awesome race and yes, the medal is pretty sweet. It’s not a suncatcher thingy like last year, but I can dig it. This will be a fun one for sure!
If you’d like to run the Fort2Base with me, let me know, I want a running buddy!
I won’t be in Chicago, but I will be running the A10 (Annapolis 10 Miler) that same day, so we can be “virtual” running buddies 🙂 I’ve never counted my miles in nautical miles. That’s pretty cool!
Nautical Miles? I like it… better than your average 5k!
Hey Shannyn!
I live in Chicago and would definitely be interested in doing this!
Are you looking for practice runs, or a buddy on race day? What is your pace?
I’m running the 10NM and would love a running buddy. What is your pace?
Last year I ran with the 10:30 pacer and finished at about 2:10
I’m running the 10NM as well. Not sure what the pace groups are, but hoping to stick around 9:00.
I am sure this post has touched all the internet users,

Everyone loves it whenever people come together and share views.
