A few years ago, when I started running and making fitness a priority, I had to find a few “hacks” to make sure that my fitness routine stuck. As a reforming couch potato, I know that if I don’t make fitness stupid-easy, I will work myself around the clock or find an excuse not to go for a run or hit the gym.
One trick I picked up years ago, was to make sure that whenever possible, my workout clothes were versatile enough to use during my workday as a social media manager but also meant I could turn off the computer and literally run out the door. For awhile, when my schedule was really crazy, I would sleep in my running clothes so I could roll out of bed and be halfway done before I could talk myself out of it! Nowadays, I typically prefer to go running in the afternoon or after work in the evening, depending on the season.
Hunched over at a computer is my natural state. I love what I do, and it can be easy to work around the clock if I’m not mindful of my time, but I work better when I balance work and working out. When I make time to go for a walk, a run, or hit the gym, I think better and have more energy to hop from task to task.
Honestly, one of my favorite things about running is that it helps me think creatively. If I have a problem to solve or a marketing campaign that just doesn’t seem to be quite crystallized in my head, I sometimes will take a quick mile run just to help process ideas and make sense of it all.
Knowing that my life is cray-cray and I essentially need to keep fitness stupid-simple despite the chaos, I got to try some new workout wear from lucy activewear. I ordered the Get Going Pant in black ($89), Keep The Pace half-zip in jade heather ($89), Can’t Catch Me running sock ($14), and the Run Your Heart Out headband ($10).
What I love about this outfit is that it’s perfect for layering. The pants have enough room to breathe that you can layer long johns underneath if the weather goes bi-polar (as it does in Chicago) but still be comfortable on a sunny day, and the Keep The Pace half-zip had thumb holes and a warm, cushy fabric which is great for brisk fall runs.
I took my lucy activewear for a spin during my workday- first curled up at the desk for creative brainstorming sessions for my marketing work, and then when my brain got foggy, I grabbed my keys and went out for a run without any fuss- it’s gear for work or working out!
