I’m in Portland as we speak for The World Domination Summit. Today, I heard the founder of Charity:Water speak and it stoked the fires within me- my birthday is in two weeks and it was like this just made perfect sense.
I am surrounded by blessings, but in this time of rapid transition, sometimes I feel I lack purpose and direction. Hearing Scott Harrison, Charity:Water’s founder speak today was a much needed anchor to the mind and heart of a dreamer. What a beautiful opportunity and a profound blessing, two weeks before my birthday.
There is such a need for clean water. Water is something I’ve always taken for granted and give little thought to- but what if you had to choose between giving water to your children, your spouse, or to clean and sanitize your home or cook food with a limited water supply? What choices would you make if you only could lug a few gallons of water home each day? Who would have to go thirsty?
But for us first world-ers..let me put in perspective..no water would also mean NO BEER and in a time of celebration and innovation at The World Domination summit, I would like to share a little bit of the profound blessings I feel now.
The business model is innovative- you know where the money is going..no red-tape businessey bullcrapola. No black holes of donations or annoying mailing address labels you didn’t even want (see rant: here.) No selling your name to a thousand other orgs. Just good works.
arlright- end plea here…I’m going back to the crazy streets of Portland to meet up with amazing #WDS2012’ers and drink more beer. Hooray for moi! Much love to all of you, and thank you 🙂
This is such a wonderful idea!
Thank you! $2600 is a huge goal, but I’m praying it will come together!
What a great idea! I hope you reach your goal!
We’re cheering for you!
Good luck! Using your blog to spread the world is a great way to bring attention to this issue. It’s coming from an unexpected source.
