My Run Disney Tinkerbell Half Marathon Wish List

January 2, 2013

18 days!! 18 days!!! I am so flippin’ excited that in just a few weeks I’ll be running the Run Disney  Tinkerbell Half Marathon 2013 at Disneyland..my FIRST half marathon…ever!  I’ve logged the miles, dreamed the dream, now it’s time to construct an outfit!

Preparing for my first half marathon, the Run Disney Tinkerbell Half Marathon at Disneyland on January 20th, 2013, has been a long time coming!  In the second half of 2012, I ran 250 miles, sometimes with difficulty, telling myself that every mile got me “closer to Tinker Bell.”  I am more ready than nervous- I know that no matter what, I’m ready to cross that finish line.

In 2012, we even hit our fundraising goal for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention a month early.  I’ve done the fundraising, the training, and after 6 months of training like a beast, I finally get to dress like a beauty!  I’ve been toying with some ideas, but have been drooling over some gorgeous possibilites to dress up for race weekend and the final weeks of training.

I have been drooling over some new Brooks Running gear which coincidentally comes in Tinker Bell green and if I can score some Pro Compression socks in lime green I’ll be set to race! Throw in a sparkly skirt, Tink Tee from Raw Threads and the look will be complete!

Part of me is totally excited for the post-race goodies that I’m going to treat myself with to celebrate my first half marathon.  I’m excited to have this big run in the books and cannot wait to meet this goal!  I currently have 6 medals- and with the Run Disney Tinkerbell Half Marathon medal plus the Princess Half Marathon medal and Coast To Coast Challenge medal, I think it’s time for a real, big-girl medal display.

Additionally, I’m totally jazzed to be one of “those people” who gets to put the 13.1 stickers on their car (that non runners like my former self think is some kind of radio station!).  I am so psyched to wear my new Keep Calm and Run On zip up hoodie.. after a long distance run I always need something cozy and relaxing to wear.

  1. I have that t-shirt and the socks! I’m going to wear it with the Tutu that my daughter-in-law made me! I love to dress up for the Disney races!

I totally need a tutu! I may opt for the sparkle skirt just because I’m not sure what 13 miles in a tutu will be like but I LOVE it!

  2. OMG that is the cutest race outfit idea ever!!!

I love bright green, so your gear wishlist looks perfect to me! I’m only doing a 5K over here in Florida (and yes, I thought 13.1 was a radio thing for the longest time!), but at next year’s Princess half marathon, I’ve made my husband swear to wear a matching skirt.

I LOVE it Stephanie! My boyfriend and I are doing the Princess this year as Mickey and Minnie but had I had the guts I may have asked him to dress up as Prince Charming! We’re doing the Royal Family 5k the day before so we might be able to swing it, hahah!

Thanks so much! I know people really get dressed up for the runDisney events. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go with the Tink theme but why not? SO cute!

  5. So cute! Can’t wait to see your costume for the Princess Half. 🙂

I had a tutu made for the Princess half, just ordered my tank and am having a friend make sleeves for me. Going as Snow White. I still have to order shorts from Sparkle Skirts, but will have Capri’s with me just in case.

I’ve worn tutu’s now for two other races. Kind of getting hooked on dressing up.

OH MY GOSH Snow White??! SOOO jealous right now, that idea is so totally friggin cute! I was thinking of going as Cinderella but I think I’ll stick to Mickey/Minnie with my bf… but seriously, someday I dream of rocking a princess costume! *swoon*

      • I’m a little nervous about it. But I’m kind of excited too. One of a zillion Snow’s I’m sure. But all in fun. It’s a chance for me to be a little silly.

You will for sure rock the Minnie and your Tink costume 🙂

I love the medal display! Never thought of that. Sure beats throwing them in a pile in your closet like I do.

Hi there. First, let me thank you for such a marvelous post. Secondly, can you add a pinterest share button? I wanted to share this on my pinterest wall and it took me about 10 minutes or so. With a simple share button it would have been much easier. Anyway, thank you for this marvelous post 🙂
