Onward, To Texas!

February 22, 2016

Texas Door Buster

We’re almost there..just a few more days of packing and deep breathing!

To say I’ve been scattered would be an understatement, and I haven’t had much oomph to put into the blog, so if you’ve noticed a slow down on content, it’s a reflection of the chaos in my life at the moment.

As I write this, I’m getting ready for another Monday at the new job- the last week of working remotely from Chicago, and just 3 days before we load up our storage unit and condo to fill a moving truck up and tote our truck, car & dogs down south.  Logistics take up a lot of headspace, and usually after working, I get off my computer and don’t want to get back on again.

I’ve had to ban the word “taxes,” (since his are done and mine are not) as if I weren’t a muggle and he were bringing up Voldemort, as it just overheats my mental disk- and I’ve also had to scale back on vocalizing how tired we are…when you’re moving for the second time in two months, working a new job and prepping to move to a new state with two pups, we are trying to keep our frayed nerves from unraveling completely!

My partner has been awesome, and we’re nearing the end of our seemingly endless packing routine (which started when I moved in with him over a month ago and sublet my apartment to get our expenses down & make a potential relocation that much faster) but we’re both a bit worse for wear.  Luckily though, we’re almost done.

I’m looking forward, tremendously so, to getting to San Antonio and getting in a new routine with some sunshine and not living out of a suitcase and subsisting on canned food and random bits to use up what we have.  Oh yes, this girl is going to treat herself to some serious brisket when arriving in Texas!

Moving

The muscle behind this move.

The dogs know something is up and are excited and anxious because the boxes everywhere mean change is coming.  Our new place will have a dog park and a pool (yessss!) so we will all get a chance to (maybe?) relax for a half day before I resume work on Monday.  If you need me, I will be unpacking a blender and mixing up something fierce past the Mason-Dixon line after 2 days of driving and a day of unpacking.

I’m going to take a few days off from the blog just to get through the crazy cross-country move- so I hope you’ll bear with me! I’m planning some changes for the blog which I hope will be for the better, so stay tuned and thank you for being awesome!

I’m not jealous of the moving part as I have only moved once in 25 years since I was married and it was heck! But your new life sounds like a positive move in many aspects. Good luck and can’t wait to see the new changes to the blog, hopefully still offering many tips on frugality. Your blog is one reason why I have gotten my finances in order although I did go on a Starbucks splurge this weekend that is a rare occurrence nowadays. Positive thoughts are being sent your way. And the dog park sounds so wonderful. I am a dog person and love that they will have a place to play while they adjust too!
