Need Motivation?

April 16, 2011

What are you filling your head with?  I love to tune out when I have down time.  I’ll put on whatever music or movie that coincides with my mood and just go with it.  Oddly enough though, a few weeks ago, I made the choice to change my mood with what I was listening to, watching and reading, and I’ve been reaping the benefits.  I challenge you to start incorporating little bits of inspirational and motivational sources into your daily life- I think you’ll see a change in how you live your life and how you feel.

Undeclared for Life is created the fabulous Emilie of Puttylike.com and is geared to anyone who hasn’t been able to narrrow down their interests into one career path until they’re 65, or for anyone who simply doesn’t want to.  She and her cohost Abe will help you capitalize on your multi-potentiality.

The Daily Boost is one of the top podcasts of all time on Itunes.  15 minutes of this podcast (you can subscribe to his paid service for additional podcasts) once a week will kick start your motivation and get you moving towards your life goals, plus give you the tools to figure out what they are!

Morning Coach is another podcast I totally love.  It comes out once a week as well (but you can subscribe to his paid service for more at MorningCoach.com), but is another tool by a great host that will get you excited, and be as essential for a solid pick-me-up in your day to go along with your morning coffee.  I know you’ll enjoy JB’s podcasts as much as I do!

I have read all three of these books (currently reading “The Art of Non-Conformity”)  and highly recommend them.

Randy Pausch gave the famous Last Lecture at Carnegie Mellon that exploded on the internet.  His book develops upon his talk a bit more, and tells you some more in depth, personal stories he was unable to tell on stage.   I would recommend buying this book- it was so popular there are a ton of used, affordable copies- and trust me, you’ll want to share this with a friend!   Find it here at Amazon.com.

Seth Godin’s book, The Dip, is great for anyone who is going through a slump on their way to large, hard to attain goals.  I am halfway through my master’s degree, and beginning new side projects that may or may not have a big payoff (I remain optimistic!)  but this quick read (it’s a very short book) has helped me in deciding what’s worth riding out the slump for.  Click here to pick it up from Amazon.com.

Finally, Chris Guillebeau’s book, The Art of Non-Conformity is a great read for anyone trying to answer the question “Is this it?” and has a passion for finding what else life has to offer.  If you need a kick in the tush to get what you want out of life, pick up his book, it’s an easy read that will surely get you thinking.

…so go ahead and download the podcasts and get these books!  It’s a cheap, quick way to get your mind moving in the direction of your best life!  Thanks for reading FruBu and make today a fabulous one!

Thanks for this post. Over the past few weeks I’ve been feeling kind of crummy because I can’t seem to figure out my path. Your post led me to Puttylike and I’ve been scanning her blog non-stop.

I LOVE Puttylike! Emilie and I have actually had a coaching session where she gave me some great ideas for my blog and business. She knows how to bring out the best in people that have a zillion different ideas and motivations! I’m glad you could find some of her posts to be useful! Thanks for the comment!
