Hot Summer, Cold Beer: Next Stop, Columbus- Because, I’m Thirsty.

You can tell a lot about a place by what it brews.  You can tell even more, specifically about the beer it brews and the culture around it. If you want to get your finger on the pulse, you might as well put your mouth to the pint glass and drink it in.

Columbus is building itself to be quite the brew city  With an aptly dubbed Ale Trail, that boasts the path to 25 breweries in Columbus, you can craft quite a weekend for yourself around the sips of Columbus- which is is exactly what I plan on doing!

While I’m there, I’m planning on hopping along to some of the delicious breweries on my own especially Brewer’s Row, which seems a bit more doable in a day than the entire Ale Trail in its entirety, but am going to be taking tours with Columbus Brew Adventures.  I love adventures. Especially, with beer. This shall be a win!

While in Columbus, I’ll be bringing along Matilda to a gorgeous pet-friendly hotel in Columbus, Le Méridien Columbus, The Joseph. It’s quite a name and quite a hotel!  So pretty, and so swankalicious, I can’t wait to stay there.  But I will tell you this- it’s both gorgeous and AFFORDABLE.

I mean, honestly.  Look at this bathtub.  LOOK AT IT.

Weekend rates are around $209-229 on up… if you’re a beer lover and you want to explore, you can do it and stay at a gorgeous hotel to sleep it off, or even, enjoy a beer in the bathtub.  Affordability, style, and and Ale Trail, without a pretentious markup.  Columbus, we haven’t met yet, but I love you already. You’re genuine.

When I’m not sampling ales, and walking around attempting to procure them, I will also need to be walking Matilda- so I reached out to LifeinCBus.com for some guidance on dog friendly areas I could take her, and still score my morning coffee, or scope out neighborhoods for pictures.  Columbus is pretty cool that you can submit some pretty specific questions, and they help you tailor your trip (for free) so you have an awesome time.  Joe, recommended I spend some time at Goodale Park,  a great place to walk the dogs any time of day or night!

I’m also hoping to head over to Schiller Park in German Village to grab coffee and macarons.  A girl can’t live on beer alone (though I could try), she also requires macarons and coffee…and moments to Instagram. I will want to visit Pistacia Vera, based on his recommendation. 4PV8web

I’m really excited to visit Columbus in a few weeks. It’s summer and I’m really thirsty.  I’m hoping on the way in or out (I’m driving with the pooch), a stop can be made at Rock Mill Brewery for refreshment, because, it seems that this summer, I’ll be traveling to the land of refreshment.  Stay tuned!

Also would rec the Elevator Brewing Co on High St. They have great drafts! If you need a snack while down town the sweet potato fries at Tip Top on Gay St cannot be beat! Thurmans has a huge hamburger challenge too! I LOVE Cbus!

Used to live in CBus- German Village in fact. Whenever we visit, my wife insists a stop at Pistacia Vera.

Columbus has some great breweries– and a few distilleries now too.

Welcome!
