The Dream Beyond the Blog: Reaching for Rich Happy & Hot LIVE

September 14, 2011

I really should be going to bed.  I am writing this  after taking my shower and crawling into my pajamas, yet I can’t turn my mind off.  I really should be sleeping.  I have work tomorrow…

…I have work tomorrow.  That is exactly why I’m up writing this post.  I am working a job that has no hope of being sustainable.  I am in a graduate program that I’m finishing up in a few months and I’m not getting my Ph.D.  I need to think to the future, and those thoughts have started now.

I have learned too much from the past year { see here and here}  to continue on doing anything else less than authentic, impassioned, and inspired.  I am reaching out to the universe, as cheesy as it may sound, because I know there isn’t a path mapped out for me yet.  I need to blaze one, and I’m going to need to look for any opportunity to make it happen.

I started this blog on a friend’s suggestion.  It was to be a platform for me to talk about frugality and being a graduate student.  Well,  I’m soon not to be a graduate student, and the blog has evolved far beyond saving money- it’s become about saving lives.

I’m not trying to be dramatic- I think this blog is truly about saving lives.  Saving them from the drudgery of complacency, of obligation, of lackluster living.  I am pretty positive it’s saved my life from those things.

Now is the perfect time, I have nothing to lose.  Being about to graduate, with no real long term commitments and now, nothing but my own gumption, I want to move forward.

My dream is to produce content that provides women with a resource to live their best lives:  to innovate, to create, to motivate.  I want them to be able to carry out their authentic dreams- the unfiltered ones, unadulterated, unapologetic dreams they have for themselves in every aspect of their lives:  wealth, freedom, family, love and wellness.

I want to develop a life around this, a career, a way to pay the bills and feed the pug while simultaneously feeding who I am and what I believe in.  I am looking up and grasping every opportunity to grow these core ideals into a business, to write, to publish, to council and create content that gives back.

Any opportunity to make it happen, I’m going to at least try.  I’m going to stretch, and give, and pray, and learn and work.

This is exactly why I made a video and put myself on a limb, because the video is the least I could do to tell the universe that I’m ready for more, that I’m willing to do what is asked of me and then give even more.

You can watch the video below.  I made it because I want to attend Marie Forleo’s Rich, Happy & Hot LIVE in NYC this October.  I need to be there.  It will galvanize my efforts thus far and keep me moving forward with a roadmap engineered by people doing exactly what I want to do. It will be the spark I need for the aforementioned path-blazing.   See more info here.

It’s scary to tell everyone on the internet that you’re doing some serious thinking about your life, and want to do something big, bold and beautiful only to admit that you don’t have “the plan,” just yet.
{uh crapola}

I don’t have a plan, but I have hustle.  I have gumption.  I have passion.
I just need that spark to ignite.
I want to give back, I want to honor the people that love me.  I want to leave a legacy, and I think I can do that- I just have to step out in faith and ask the world to give me guidance.

So, what are you working on?  What is your big dream and are you brave enough to admit it?
{I hope I’m not the only one with big dreams and crazy tactics to get it!}
And be sure to check out MarieForleo.com for great content if you’re mulling stuff like this over too! Or…if you have the chance, you should go to Rich Happy & Hot yourself!

    I'd say that my dream is quite similar to yours. My dream is to make my site into a resource for women who suffer from chronic illnesses, a place of respite, comfort and warmth.

    (And I just finally came out & really admitted it a few hours ago on my blog coincidentally.)

        Thanks! You're right – it takes guts, but the potential emotional and personal payoff is HUGE. And remember, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
