There is something to be said about a good pair of boots- a pair that is both sexy, ready for some serious weather and still functional to help me trek across the Chicago streets from work to play and back again. I always seem to opt for the knee high boot, they keep me warm during freakish weather here in the midwest and yes, they can help me feel powerful against the horrible Lake Effect that is coming any day now- while still making me feel sexy and ready to crush whatever stands in my way…
…because you know, these boots are indeed made for walkin.
I picked up these lovelies from DSW – they’re leather Niston boots from Nine West. My challenge was to incorporate a versatile, fun pair of boots in my fall fashion repertoire, so I crafted three looks that would get me from work, to play and a thousand temperature fluctuations in between. Here in Chicago, you learn the art of layering- your shoes should be ready for any type of weather, but the rest of you can be tailored to fit some temperamental weather (as I write this, it’s like 70+ degrees, then after some thunderstorms it’ll be cold tomorrow… I’m ready baby!)

I have a feeling that these Nine West boots from DSW and I are going to get along just fun all season long… pair them with tights to cool off and when it’s cold, thick socks should do the trick to add some cozy warmth for rain or shine!
I usually opt for flat riding boots but I’m glad that I got a little kitten heel for these boots, they’re so pretty but still are comfortable enough to walk in (which I do a lot of in the city). There were so many good boots to choose from at DSW, but I am super stoked I got these- they’re my new go to!
So, what do you think? Are they cute?

Love those boots! They’re super cute! Normally I’m a flat riding boot girl too, but I’ve been itching for a pair of boots with a heel this season!

I want those boots, Shannyn! Thanks for posting 🙂 Wearing my flat brown ones, (in the 90 degree AZ weather!) I’m already 5’10″…Do you know what the heel height is? Thanks! –Lynn
They are really cute and look great on you! I LOVE DSW
You look awesome in these great boots! I can’t do a heel like that but if I could, I’d definitely be shopping for these.

A good pair of sturdy black boots is one of my must-have items for fall and winter because they really are so versatile! You can wear them anywhere. Great outfit options, I love the casual date night look.
I adore these boots Shannyn! They go with every outfit and accessorize!

Knee high black boots always look good in my opinion! I always have trouble finding a good pair that lasts more than one season. I’ll check this pair out!
