I’m Going To ALDI’s Test Kitchen…What Would You Like To Know?

Switch and Save With ALDI

Okay, I’m giddy- tomorrow I’m heading to ALDI’s Test Kitchen just outside of Chicago to learn more about what’s comin’ up for ALDI and how to cook better, eat better and of course- do it frugally!

I’ll get the chance to sit down with Food Stylist Janice Stahl and Registered Dietician Sylvia Klinger – a great opportunity to learn how to make frugal food into something fabulous.  Do you have any questions for the experts that  you want me to ask?

Here are some of the questions I’m anxious to ask at the ALDI Test Kitchen:

ALDI is already a place I shop to save some serious coin on my grocery purchases (especially since I buy a lot of fresh produce for juicing and healthy meals) and I love that they’re starting to offer more and more organic foods and natural alternatives to the “bargain” brands.

On my last trip to ALDI earlier this week, I scoped out organic honey, agave nectar and tons of organic produce at price points that make it feasible for a bargain shopper like myself. The recent additions make me gleeful because it enables shoppers to have both a good price and an organic selection to choose from- organic and affordable are no longer mutually exclusive.

Honestly, I wish I could take you all with me- we’re going to have some food tastings, tutorials and a chance to take a look behind the curtain at one of my favorite grocers.

Hopefully though, since you can’t fit in my suitcase, I can at least ask the ALDI folks some questions on your behalf!

Let me know in the comments below if you have any questions about budget entertaining, budget meal planning, health foods & healthy food recipes, saving money on your grocery bill or questions about ALDI as a company…

…your questions are much appreciated!

Very cool that you get to go to Aldi’s test kitchen. Love me some Aldi. I especially love their “Specialty Coffee” (formerly “German Coffee”). In fact, I’d say I get most of my groceries there, but there are a few items that I wished they carried like unsalted blister peanuts and some better yogurt choices like European style yogurt (low fat or full fat). The current Aldi yogurt options there are either high sugar American-style with fat or non-fat. Some more low-fat turkey options like turkey sausages would be nice. Also some natural, non-hydrogenated peanut butter. Meatless (similar to Boca) burgers would be cool too.

Okay, I could probably go on, but those would be my top things I would ask the honchos at Aldi! 🙂

  2. I am so so JEALOUS. I can’t wait to hear how it goes!

With grilling season hopefully coming sooner rather than later, what options are available at Aldi and are some recipes?
I do the normal hot dog and burger routine but would like to branch out to veggie griller packets and I’m interested in what types of vegetarian options are available.
What ingredients are available to make potato salad?

I really like ALDI, I always find something that I like there and the prices are great. When I was younger I used to hate going to ALDI but the store has really changed since then and they offer a lot of great things. The one thing that keeps me from going there as often as I wish I would go is the fact that they don’t accept credit cards. I rarely ever have cash on me so going to ALDI happens seldom.

Ohhhhhhh, no questions – just MASSIVE jealousy! I wish Aldi in the UK would do something like this as I would be there like a shot. Looking forward to reading about your test kitchen day…

That’s awesome. I’m wondering where Aldi gets all there products. I’ve heard that they buy some of their stuff from brand name companies and just put their own label on!

I love all your questions and can’t wait to hear the answers! have fun!!!

  12. Hope you have fun in Geneva!
I never shop at Aldi but all of my friends do! I need to check it out!

  13. Of all of the Aldi products I’ve tried, the only things my husband and I haven’t cared for are the milk and sour cream. The milk seems to have a blue tinge to it and the sour cream is a runny consistency – I’ve always wondered why those two products are sub-par when the rest of their products are awesome.

Welcome!
