Howdy from Austin, TX!
As you may know from my Instagram and newsletters from the past two weeks, I’ve been on the road nonstop. First Milwaukee, then Charleston, Savannah, Austin, and tonight- the final stop in my North-South tour, New Orleans for a few days and to celebrate the birthday. Traveling is a ton of fun, but with all of the food tours, meetups, history walks and photography, I was in need of a day to just rest and relax by the pool. Luckily after over 2 weeks on the road, I got a pool day.
I’ve gone from chilly, to humid, to dry and my skin has had to go through some changes. While it was muggy and buddy in Charleston (I had like 20 bug bites from one night walking tour) and pretty sticky in Savannah, Austin is much, much drier. Pair that with all the time I’ve had in the sun and I’ve needed to protect and nourish my skin without being greasy. I’ve used spray sunblock before, but this was the first time I had heard of spray lotion! I was really excited to get the opportunity to try and review the new Vaseline Intensive Care Aloe Soothe Spray Moisturizer.
The weather has been a challenge, along with lots of time in the sun and new products…namely bug spray and sunblock as a constant. I am loving this long exploration, but it has totally changed up my routine. Even with dry skin, I find that I need just a wee bit of moisturizer to top things off and keep my skin nourished without feeling over the top. I love the south, it just takes some getting used to!
Lots of sun, varying temperatures and a need to not feel greasy after the pool means you may have to change up your normal beauty routine as your travel. Some of my summer essentials are sunblock (obviously) for my body and for my face, argan oil for my hair (to take care of post swim frizz), sea salt spray for wavy tresses, and a post sun moisturizer. In Chicago, I’ve been using a body butter, or body oil- but found that it was too greasy in humid areas, especially when paired with a reapplication of sunblock, it was gross. I needed something light for the driest areas of skin without weighing me down in the summer heat.
A light spray of moisturizer proved to be just the ticket and the scent of the Vaseline Intensive Care Aloe Soothe Spray Moisturizer didn’t make me feel heavy either. It contains pure aloe for nourishment and freshness, along with microdroplets of vaseline for longer lasting moisture.
If you’d like to add this spray your repertoire, you can pick it up at your local drugstore or superstore for about $7.99, a budget beauty find you might just love!
