Put Together At Home: Entertaining With My Wine Bar #PutTogether

Dry Wine Bar from Sauder Furniture

I have been wanting a dry bar for ages. AGES. At my last place, I didn’t have a spot for one, but had my eye on this fabulous dry bar (a.k.a. Gourmet Stand)  from Sauder for well over a year.  Now that I’m a bachelorette with a place of my own, I knew exactly where I’d put the piece and was super excited to have a multi-functional piece of furniture geared for storage, entertaining and that would also serve as a gorgeous tool for my indoor photography.

I love wine- and since my kitchen is long and narrow, the wine I had was taking up a lot of counter space, and made for an awkward and crowded area for guests to come over and mingle over wine at my place.

Over the summer, I’m hoping to cut my entertainment costs and avoid the $8 glasses of wine out at bars and instead do some entertaining at home so I can put more money towards travel.  I find that friends and I have tired of the Chicago scene- competing for tables and spending gobs for a nice evening out.  Since many of us have pricey rentals, why not enjoy that rent expense each month and put some effort into entertaining and using the space you’ve spent a good chunk of your income to live in!

This wine bar serves as a smart and savvy storage space, but also anchors itself as a conversation piece in my living/dining room area- moving the crowds away from a tight kitchen and into a more spacious section of my 1 bedroom apartment.

This piece has been in my home for a month now, and I’ve used it a dozen times- to house all the fixin’s for a dinner at home, to organize and store my glassware and wine, but also, it’s been a sanity saver when I need a beautiful surface to do photos on.  You’ve probably seen it as a backdrop in my Instagram photos a few times-  like here, here and here.  I love the faux marble top, I use it for photos all the time!

It’s also helping me build my wine collection..not like I needed an excuse, but it’s nice to have proper storage for bottles I pick up.  I now have backup whites, reds and some sparkling wines…perfect for when I snag a deal and have guests over last minute, or need a hostess gift without having to run to the store.  Yes…I’m officially a wine hoarder and I’m not sorry!  It looks so pretty in my work and living space!

So, what do you think of my new piece?
Want to come over for a glass of something tasty?
