One of my favorite frugal hacks of all time is to save money on entertainment by canceling your cable and movie theater habit and opting instead for more affordable online streaming media. Adding to this logic, people like myself who want to save money on fitness might want to set up their own at-home gym, but DVDs get expensive and you’re never sure what you’ll use. Many times, I’ve attempted to do yoga or cardio at home only to discover I hate the routine or it’s formatted poorly, only to be stuck with a $20 DVD I’ll never use again.
I was so excited to discover that Gaiam, who already makes my favorite yoga gear, is now offering an online media streaming service, GaiamTV, which operates similarly to Netflix (not affiliated) for the fitness junkies and health nuts out there! For $9.95 you can get your yoga, pilates and Jillian Michaels Body Revolution streaming on your computer!
I activated my subscription and poked around to discover that there’s also more than just fitness videos- but you also get access to some great Sirius Radio shows, documentaries on health/wellness, philosophy and personal development.
The documentary selection (my faves) was great- some of my favorite documentaries on health and personal development were featured- 10 Questions For The Dalai Lama and Happy are awesome. I was also excited to see that the Gaia Yoga instructional dvds were also featured to watch streaming- since each retails for around $20 a pop, if you love working out at home you will save some serious cash and have the variety you crave! The sheer amount of Jillian Michaels Body Revolution videos was astounding- seriously, if you’re a Jillian Michaels fan (lift until you barf, eh?) you’ll love this and you can take it with you on trips if you have wi-fi!
If you’re curious about GaiaTV, take advantage of their 10 day free trial to see if you like it!
