Frugal Feature: For That Special Someone on Valentine’s Day

For that special someone on valentine's day

Valentine’s Day is the perfect reminder that we should all celebrate the love we have for others. During this time of year we see hearts and cherubs in store windows and in decorations at malls and other places. The Valentine Day’s promotions prompt some people to focus their celebrations on Valentine’s Day and others are nudged into doing something special without waiting for February 14th.

The main thing is that this month of love and romance helps us remember how special certain people are in our lives. It gives us an opportunity to celebrate our love for those people. Of course, it needs to be mentioned that love should be celebrated throughout the year. In reality, it should not be necessary to have a specific holiday to remind anyone that a relationship is special or important.

But since we do have such a holiday, there certainly isn’t any harm in taking advantage of it! With that being said below are some ideas on a few great Valentine’s Day gift ideas.

A Valentine’s Day Dinner

Some people think that a Valentine’s dinner can only be special if it takes place at a fabulously romantic restaurant. This is simply not true. Why not wine and dine your special someone by candlelight at home? The truth is, with a little imagination any home can be turned into a romantic setting and even a simple meal can become an erotic experience.

When it comes down to it, the food is not as important as the atmosphere of the space it is served in. With that in mind it is important to work at making the home feel loving and romantic. Stealing ideas from top-notch restaurants is one way to create this type of atmosphere.

Besides adding candles to the tabletop you can layer table linens. A beautiful boutique of flowers will add a nice touch and soft, romantic music playing in the background will add a wonderfully romantic ambiance.

Personalized Gifts

On Valentine’s Day and other special days throughout the year, millions of women think that simply because “he knows I love personalized gifts“ they can expect to receive a gift they will love. Unfortunately, many men seem to overlook this rather obvious gift idea. In some cases men shy away from giving personalized gifts because they fear the gift may convey the wrong message.

First of all, relax – personalized gifts do not have to convey a message of eternal love. These gift options include everything from jewelry to robes, keepsake boxes, and barware. Obviously a set of cocktail glasses engraved with a date, names or initials is not necessarily going to send the ‘wrong’ message. The point is, the right personalized gift can be the perfect gift.

Carving out Time

A short getaway vacation can be the ultimate Valentine’s Day gift. It’s the kind of gift that both of you can enjoy. If you can’t actually get away for a day or two then consider getting tickets to a special event or attraction. The idea is to find time for just the two of you. Carve out time and a place that is special – a place for you to celebrate the love you have for each other.

When this special place is discovered you will want to return again and again. You will soon find that it is your love that makes the place special. When this realization is made you will not wait for Valentine’s Day to celebrate your love, you will celebrate year round – which is what love is all about.

  1. I would prefer a personalized gift on Valentine’s Day. It is sweeter!

  2. My hubby and I aren’t really into Valentine’s Day. We both believe that we should do these types of things all year long and try and throw in a few unexpected things…not tied into birthdays or anniversaries. We do a date night every month. I also get “just because” flowers. He on the other hand gets little love notes tucked into his things. All little things to let the other one know they are loved and thought of.
