Frugal Feature: Save Money With A Night In

Going out is great, but I’ve noticed that everything’s become more expensive recently. A drink costs more, and so does admission to my favourite nightclub. Also, when I want to order food, I have to pay even more for that. If that’s not enough, there’s the cost of a cab home, which has shot up of late.
Having fun costs more than it used to, or so I thought until I had a recent brainwave. I thought to myself “why not enjoy a night in instead”. I could do all the things I do on the night out without having to set foot outside my front door! I can invite my friends, make some food and serve some drinks too without breaking the bank, but what would a night in consist of?
Food
As it’s a party, we wanted something different. I’d seen a picture of a chocolate fondue, and decided to have one at my last big night in. We dipped marshmallows, strawberries and banana pieces in and it was divine. We also had some chips and dip just in case we felt like grazing after a few drinks.

Drinks
The life and soul of any party, we made cocktails such as a bloody Mary (pictured above). It was great, as we got the recipe right first time, plus we tried a few other recipes we found online. Some of them were fantastic, and we plan to mix some of the ones we didn’t make the next time one of us has a cheap night in.
Games
After a few hours, we felt a little tipsy and looked online to see what fun we could have. After a few searches, we stumbled upon a fun bingo game which was free to try. It was so exciting to play that we spent a couple of hours trying to win, and plan to give it another go next time. Try out your luck by finding the game here.

Great tips, I’ve always wanted to try fondue!

2My hubby and I and our circle of friends do a lot of “nights in”. It is way less expensive, more relaxing and a lot of fun…especially when you are not getting dirty looks for the waitress because you’ve been at one of her tables for over 2 hours. We rotate houses so the same person isn’t having to do the prep work and clean up. We also make it a pot luck so everyone shares in the costs.
3So true, this is my biggest expense. Going out is a money-suck and staying in is often just as fun if not more!
